Hola amigos, ayer estuve toda la noche preparando el plato estrella de la Semana Santa: las torrijas! Y es que este sencillo dulce hecho a base de pan, leche, huevos, azúcar y canela es el plato más popular de las mesas de la Semana Santa española. Es superf'ácil de cocinar y muy económico, y no hay quien se resista a una torrija en este fechas. Estoy segura de que en España nadie necesitará saber la receta de las tradicionales torrijas, pero para aquellos que visitáis mi blog desde otras partes del mundo, aquí os dejo un receta gourmet de torrijas caseras. Sirvanse con helado o nata.
Hello folk! How was your weekend? Yesterday I spent my evening cooking 'a must' in Easter in Spain: the torrijas! This simple and easy sweet made with bread, milk, eggs, sugar and cinnamon is the most popular dessert on the tables during the Spanish Easter. It's very easy to make, and also very cheap, and there is no one who can resist to this sweet temptation. Ok, here is my gourmet recipe:
- loaf pan thick slices (the thicker it is, the better)
- lemon or orange rind
- sugar
- 2 eggs
- cinnamon stick
- 2 cups of milk
Directions:
- In a large saucepan, put the milk, the cinnamon stick, the lemon/orange rind and 2 spoons of sugar.
- Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Remove the cinnamon and the lemon/orange rind. Then let cool down until warm.
- When warm, add the bread, soak well and set aside.
- Beat the eggs and dip the bread in the eggs for both sides.
- Add oil to a pan fry the bread until slightly browned. Let it cool down.
- Make a mix of sugar and cinnamon and dip the bread in the mix.
- Serve with cream or ice-cream.
